The Right Reverend Gene Robinson at St Mary"s Church
The vote could lead to more openly gay bishops like Gene Robinson

Bishops of the Anglican Church in the United States have voted to overturn a three-year moratorium on the election of gay bishops.

The decision seems likely to lead to the Episcopal Church's eventual exit from the worldwide Anglican Communion.

The Communion has been fighting to avoid disintegration since the Episcopal Church consecrated the openly gay bishop Gene Robinson in 2003.

The decision is expected to be confirmed in the next few days.

Sally Kern, a controversial Republican lawmaker from Oklahoma, known for her anti-gay rhetoric and walking into the state capital with a semi-automatic handgun stashed in her purse, is once again making headlines for drafting a bizarre Proclamation for Morality, where she blames the economic crisis on homosexuality, other forms of debauchery and President Obama.

Sally Kern is on a mission to force her Christian right-wing ultra Conservative views on the rest of the world and using her position of State Rep. to do it.

When she was caught not once, but twice trying to take a handgun into the State Capitol building, she said, “Aw, I forgot!”

When questioned about her reasons for hiding a handgun in her purse, Kerr said, “It has nothing to do with the homosexual situation and I’m just sorry that I forgot to take it out.”

In her Oklahoma Citizen’s Proclamation for Morality, Kern calls for a “…need for a national awakening of righteousness in our land,” cherry picking quotes from James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson to support her notion of a government based on Bible principles and her views on morality.

Kern believes there are more sinister motives at play, besides Wall Street for our nation’s economic crisis. For the full story, see Oklahoma Lawmaker: The Gays and Obama are to Blame for Economic ...

Vote on New Gay Pride Flag Designs

Studio 360 asked Worldstudio to redesign the 30-year old gay pride flag "in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots that marked the first salvo in the gay rights revolution." While the 1978 original represents unity (inspired by the rainbow peace flag), these proposals tackle some of the issues facing the LBGT community today--same-sex marriage and national identity in particular. For example, Isaac Mizrahi's favorite (top left) doesn't use rainbow colors at all. Instead, it's a modification of the existing US flag, representing only those states that have legalized gay marriage.

The early bird special (hmm..is that for the ole folks) ends next Wednesday, tax day. The early bird VIP passes are $35. This prices increases to $45 after the 15th. The VIP pass allows you entry into all weekend activities -- the Friday night kick-off party at the Skyview Lounge with entertainment by Sharon McNight and entry to all other Pridefest events and parties. Last year the ticket also included access to the VIP lounge with free cocktails and appetizers. I don't see that offered this year, but I have to assume it will be. Still its a good deal for the full weekend.

And if you haven't heard Josh Zuckerman and Jennifer Holliday perform on Saturday evening in Bienville Square. I've posted videos of them in the past week. For more information and to buy tickets online, visit Mobile Pridefest.

So, gay, questioning, or those Mobilians in denial, I only have one thing to say --- Come Out, Come Out, wherever you are!
