Now we're 7 weeks into the 2008 season and in most conferences and the national championship race, there remains a lot to hash out. This week in the top 10, Texas and Oklahoma face off in Dallas. This game will go a long way in determining the Big 12 Conference champ and perhaps the national champion. In the SEC several games this week will shake out the better teams from the so-so teams. It should be another great weekend of college football.
In the SEC this week ----
Alabama is taking the week off.
Arkansas at Auburn -- This could be a more interesting game that most folks would think. With the firing of offensive coach Franklin at Auburn this week, the Tiger offense may be more of a lame duck or they may run wild feeling free of the constraints of the spread offense. But the game is at Auburn and the Hogs have shown little spark this season -- Auburn 24, Arkansas 6
Tennessee at Georgia -- Talk about lame duck offenses, Tennessee has had as much or more problems on offense than Auburn. And it's not a good time to play in Athens after the Dawgs got whomped by the Crimson Tide two weeks ago. With a week off, Georgia 38, Tennessee 9
LSU at Florida - This may be the game of the week in the SEC. Florida is favored by 7 in most pick'em polls, but that doesn't mean a thing on the field. Well see if LSU really is as good on offense as they shown so far this season or if its been luck against lesser teams. The Gators still don't have the best pass defense having been thwarted by Ole Miss, so this should be a great battle among the SEC elite. LSU 22, Florida 17
Ole Miss - Off
South Carolina at Kentucky -- This should be another great game among two of the best defenses in the SEC and the country. The offense that has the most success penetrating either strong defense will obviously win. But then again, games that are sometime picked as defensive struggles turn into offensive blowouts. Kentucky has remained a slight favorite all week and the game is in Louisville -- South Carolina 27, Kentucky 17
Vanderbilt at Mississippi State -- The Bulldogs have made a change at quarterback and played quite a game in Baton Rouge a couple of weeks ago. The 'Dores are flying high, currently leading the Eastern Division of the SEC. But things will change this week in Starkville. -- Mississippi State 28, Vanderbilt 24
